Best Season for Annapurna Base Camp Trek

For the Annapurna Base Camp trip, the best times to go on a trip in Nepal are spring and fall. We advise spring and autumn, considering that at those times of year the paths and teahouses will be somewhat busy. On the route, however, this also fosters togetherness and new connections made late evenings.

Spring (March until May):

Perfect time to enjoy the milder temperature and explore the rhododendron woodlands with their vibrant blossoms. Hiking is rather nice as the season goes on since the lower altitudes get warmer weather.

Autumn (September – November):

Another outstanding season is this one. Though generally it resembles spring, it can start out a little wet when the monsoon ends.

Monsoon (June – September):

The monsoon season runs from June to September and may bring regular rainy spells. You might be unlucky and it will rain every day; you might be lucky and find minimal rain on your path. One cannot forecast the precise weather. All the same, you will have to pack waterproof clothes and be ready for rain. Slippery paths and limited view are two further drawbacks of the monsoon. Positively, even if more difficult, this is an adventurous experience and the paths will have less walkers.

Winter (December–February):

If you are an experienced trekker and if you do not mind of the cold and snow, we would advise just contemplating winter in this region. Particularly at night, temperatures will be somewhat low. Snow would prevent us from camping at base camp in the winter. If you truly wish to go trekking in the winter, these are the seasons to go; it will not be as cold in the first half of December and the later half of February. Remember that the weather can cause adjustments to the schedule.

The best periods to receive clear mountain vistas, blue sky, and pleasant weather, we advise spring and fall. At Annapurna Base Camp, the springtime temperatures range from 19oC to – 9oC with an average daily temperature of about 10 degrees. Early fall also features comparable temperatures. Remember that at the lower altitudes, it will be somewhat warm and sunny during the day; hence, sunscreen and a sunhat are advised. At night, tempers can drop to almost 0 centigrade.
